Another component that needed to be mounted before doing the wiring is the crane.  This crane comes from, in Switzerland.  This one has a much beefier mount than the Baumann mount I used on the Night Sun, and the crane cover is split vertically.


I used offset magnets mounted sideways, and carbon fibered them in, so they hold the two halves of the crane housing perfectly together, in a self-aligning assembly that can be easily opened to unsnarl the winch cable (if needed).

This winch also includes a solid-state controller, making integration with the existing electronics easier than using the standard "Servo and 3-position switch" approach.
